Bonjour! Happy New Year! Welcome back to school. I hope that everyone had a nice holiday, full
of cheer, family, friends and fun.
Here’s
what’s happening this month…
E.L.A.:
We will be studying the author Jan Brett.
She is an author and illustrator with a phenomenal imagination and
creative flare. At the end of the unit,
the children will be writing their own stories using Jan Brett as an
inspiration! We will continue regular
class routines.
Français: We will be doing some activities about winter
(l’hiver) and working with Mme Beauregard with some ICT activities regarding
“l’hiver”. We will start “The Daily Five” in French. We will also continue
regular class routines.
Sciences Humaines: We will be focusing on the Indigenous
people of Manitoba. We will learn about
their ways of life from long ago and compare it to present day Manitoba.
Mathématiques: Our main focus this month will be double
digit subtraction. We will also be doing
a unit called “Mitten Math”. This unit
encompasses a great variety of concepts such as probability, adding,
subtracting, number sense, money, graphing, word problems, patterning,
measuring, etc. There are also great
math literacy activities that are part of this unit. We will continue regular class
routines and activities.
Thank
you and have a great month.
Mme
Kovach
