Hé Ho! C’est le
festival du voyageur! The month
of February is very busy and yet the shortest month of the year!
Here
is the list of events that are happening this month:
Valentine’s Day
Celebration – Feb. 14 pm (A
list of the children’s names is provided below along with who is signed up to
bring food for the party. If your child
chooses to give out Valentine’s Day cards, please ensure that there is a card
for everyone. Merci! )
Festival du Voyageur School Celebrations - Friday, Feb. 14 am
Children are invited to dress up as a voyageur for
this day!
100th day of school – Feb. 13th (Will do both Feb. 12th & 13th)
Français/Sc. Humaines: We’ll be
doing activities on the themes above along with continuing to learn about the
Cree Nation. This will include designing
a Cree village all together on our large bulletin board as a mural. The children are sketching a village in their
personal “Wonder Books” and as we learn more, they can add/change their sketch
to accurately represent a Cree village from the 19th century.
E.L.A.: We’ll be
starting a unit on Indigenous Legends.
Our main focus will be to learn what a legend is, read many of the
legends and then do follow up activities.
The children will be also writing their own legends.
Math: Our main
focus will be double digit subtraction
without regrouping and then
moving on to double digit addition. I
will be sending out a letter showing how I am teaching it in class so that you
are aware and in case you want to work with your child at home for extra
support. We will also continue with
mitten math.
